Reaching Out’s mission is to assist low-income, disadvantaged and homeless children and adults in Santa Clara County by providing food, basic life necessities and job training resources in a loving and supportive environment. Founded in 1979 out of a closet, the Reaching Out program now operates from a 16,000-foot state of the art debt-free distribution complex. In 2015, Reaching Out distributed over $13.6 million dollars worth of food. Reaching Out serves more than 44,000 families annually, providing enough food for more than 136,000 people. The program is mostly volunteer-run, debt-free, and has developed numerous valuable partnerships within the community.
